These are the legendary “anni ruggenti” (roaring years), the fabulous 60s when Versilia was at its peak, the holidays and economic boom capital; the best of Italian and international music scene, Mina, Chet Baker, Ella Fitzgerald animated the nights of the Bussola in Focette and of the Capannina di Franceschi in Forte dei Marmi. Viareggio, at the time the "pearl of Versilia", was the most glamorous place and the heart of this whirl, while Forte was the summer "good retreat" of the rich élite who would rather prefer privacy to public appearances and enjoyed the hot summer days in the gardens of their villas.
